Dear Allene--

Fascinating array of snippets!  I fly out again at dawn (again...<sigh>) tomorrow, so will read on the road and comment as I can, but wanted to join in while I have the chance.

This is the opening (at the moment) of a short story I'm doing for an anthology (the anthology is titled STAR-CROSSED LOVERS--a George RR Martin/Gardner Dozois endeavor).   The story (at the moment) is called "A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows", but I'm still playing with the title.

Anyway, it's the story (part of it <g>) of Roger MacKenzie's parents.

As Nikki coined <g>, I am posting from a W not currently IP--my very first, Driven. Jess and Chloe have grown up together, their fathers were lifelong best friends . This scene is a flashback. And, also, very bare.   -Tara

Oh goodness! No need. You'll learn so much more and so much faster if you can separate from ego, box up terror and jump in with both feet. You DEFINITELY are talented.

You're welcome, Allene. <g>

I hesitate to post. Nothing I have is short, not even snippets. <g> But here goes.

Elisa is a 20th C gal stuck in 1398. She's already met the surly Earl of Norburnshire, William Grifon, and is about to meet his mother.

Dear Diana,

Gorgeous as always. Excellent period language and descriptions. Lovely wry voice. My only disappointment is with the length... or lack thereof. I always want more. <g>

Dear Marte,

I liked your snip---the first of your work I'd seen. It's so well-written I could relax and enjoy, and envision the workshop, and smell the burnt smell. Very enjoyable. Thanks.

Dear Marte,

It's been years since I read anything of yours. <g> Great mood. Love the descriptions, and a puzzle surrounding the secrecy in the change of building ownership. Can't wait to find out where it's leading.

Ron,

Oooh! I love it when you do that to a scene! <vbg> I'm still working on Rosemary. Yes, she married well. Bill in an engineer with $$$ and connections to the founding family. She is good at directing and things get done under her directions, therefore she wants to direct. <g> I don't know why you think she doesn't know what's going on. As for the other questions...I'm thinking as fast as I can. <g> If we haven't told you lately, you're good at this. <s>

Thanks. LG taught history, but history teachers tend to work writing nearly as hard as an English teacher. <g>

Take your time. Rosemary is a character who keeps on giving. <s> And you're right, she isn't the type person LG needs.

Spesh,

I'll have to find a place for the Mother's Day Melt Down. It's the 2nd scene I wrote and it is a combination of many Mother's Days I've lived through. I have no children, but I did teach a zillion. They called me "Momma" and that was always a heart warming thing. Thanks for the comments.
