Karen,
But isn't telling someone not to come here and cheat the same as calling that person a cheater? If not, it's a pretty fine line.

My apologies, then, for violating the rules. Guess it was the "this topic riles me...don't come here and cheat" comment of Barbara's that set me off. After all, if the lie/liar example is to be used to illustrate the parameters of the rule, certainly cheat/cheater could be used just as well. See, to me THAT seemed like an ad hominem attack directed at me personally, since I'm the one who started the thread. Were I able to edit my previous post and remove my offensive language, I would do so. Perhaps Barbara -- as moderator for the board; that is what the gavel next to her name indicates, correct? -- or you could do so for me. Thanks.
Hi Diana,
Was the eel excerpt from Custom or Haunted Soldier (just trying to place the timing of the stories in my mind)?
Thanks, Danyun - yeah I forgot about that until you mentioned it.
Was wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any other characters in Echo besides Percy that were originally introduced through Lord John's books?
Thanks, and hope this is the right thread for the question.

Hi Deb,
Well, we meet Hal in the Outlander series initially, but we find out much more about him and his relationship with John in the LJG books - their mom Benedicta I think we meet in the LJG books first, as well as John's nieces and nephews. There are other characters that figure prominently in the LJG books that haven't yet appeared in the Outlander books. Harry Quarry appeared in Echo, but I can't remember if he appeared only in the LJG books or also the other Outlander books. I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong.
Hi Bedelia
Just my thought on this since Barbara was responding to my post. In defence of Barbara - on very little sleep, I wouldn't even be able to think of words, much less be able to translate to another language. I'd be spouting Deutch-glish!
However I saw and read her statement to mean - you won't get all the answers here, and to try to do so will result in depriving you of the enjoyment of discovery as you read the books yourself. I'd say that is a fair comment.
Certainly did not see it as directed personally, but rather to anyone who hasn't fully taken that opportunity yet. I think in this sense you are taking the word for its more negative meaning rather than in the spirit of reading the last chapter of a book to find the ending, before reading the whole book.
This has been a great thread, and has been enlightening. And I imagine most will go back and read/reread to become more acquainted with the characters.
