Thanks! If you think of any more, please let me know. I think it would be good to have as comprehensive a list as we can pull together, for at least major/large regional cons, if not the smaller ones.

To Be CONtinued http://www.2becontinued.com/

Schaumburg (Chicago), May 6-8, 2005

Is that con still running? A friend of mine called me the other day and mentioned that the hotel didn't have the convention listed. I *think* it was 2BeContinued, but I could be mistaken....

I read Cassy's post... I'll wait to add that convention 'til I hear whether it's definitely on or not. :)

I just got the (quite elaborate) Playbill for To Be CONtinued: The Musical.

What my have confused your friend was that at last year's con they announced they were going to be in the same hotel for the following two years -- days of moving from South Bend to Merrillville to Chicago (Rosemont) were over. But if she called the hotel she was in last year she would have been told the con wasn't listed -- because it had moved to the Schaumburg Marriott. Have no idea of the reason for the change of plans, although I notice that Windycon will also not be returning to that hotel.

Dri,

I sent an email to the general contact addy saying I'd heard a rumor that 2BeContinued had been cancelled. I got this reply:

Absolutely false.  In fact things could not be better.  Consecration in Chicago got
cancelled, but not us.  I hope we will see you at our convention.  Thanks for
writing in.  If there are any other questions we can help with I would love to help.
If you have any idea of where you heard the rumor it would be greatly appreciated
so we could get the word out that it is not us that was cancelled.

Cheers,

Bob Palmer
TBC Chairman

I take the statement that they wish the rumor quashed to be implicit permission to repost the email.

I expect that's what happened, since he specifically said he'd called THE HOTEL, not the convention chair or any of the convention staff.

I'll pass the word back to him.  Sorry for any confusion (wait, that's a different convention.... <g>)

Dupa,

WindyCon used to be in the Woodfield Hyatt.

For many, many years through 2003. But unless my memory is seriously faulty, in 2004 it went to the same hotel on Mannheim Road that the 2004 To Be CONtinued was in.

Use to be called the Radisson now is the Windom or something like that.
Maybe we should call it the ConDome?

Yes, that's the one. I didn't know it had changed its name to Wyndham. Looks like Windy will be back at the same hotel, just under a different name.

One of the things that confused me is that there's another Wyndham hotel just off I-290 that Capricon was at once or twice. That's where I went looking for the Brigadoon Room. (People who have never been to Capricon may ask for clarification. <g>)

Maybe we should call it the ConDome?

I think the Wyndham I was confusing it with looks more like a dome.
