I'm not happy because for us up here in the GWN it will mean the end of raspberries, tomatoes, corn and new potatoes!

I'm not happy either because it means Winter is coming and I really dislike cold weather big time.

I'll be happy to see fall arrive, although it's usually not until late October here. I'll be happy because it will mean cooler weather.

The only thing that would make me happier, in terms of weather and seasons, would be the arrival of winter. I love the fall and the cooler weather, hunting seasons, hungry fish filling up for the coming weather, and the promise of snow just over the horizon.

Now, if I could just get the fallen tree limb off my roof ...

Bummer about the tree limb, I figured you got the heavy wind too. At least you aren't without power.

We werewithout power for 26 hours, and to heck with the price of gasoline, I was charged four bucks for an 88-cent bag of ice at a drive-thru.

I love fall in the Pacific Northwest.  It means bright blue skies, sun, crisp days mixed with 80-degree-days (today), chilly nights and a couple of months of pretty leaves.

It's also nice to begin putting the garden to bed and spending time with long slow stews and soups and good books and fires.

Wow!  That's a hefty price hike for frozen water. There are always opportunists waiting to make a buck off misfortune.  Luckily, we very seldom lose our power.

Gee, when you put it that way it sounds great!  <g>  I like Fall but dislike that it is a precursor to Winter.

Heck, we get a power outage a day here -- at least. Short, but frequent.

>> dislike that it is a precursor to Winter.

You're looking too far ahead!  :>

Decades ago, I found this poem -- it still strikes home with me:

Look to This Day
By Kalidasa

Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence:
The bliss of growth;
The glory of action;
The splendor of achievement;

For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision;
But today, well lived, makes every yesterday
a dream of happiness,
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

I have to keep turning my monitor on, but they're mostly too short to cause the computer to shut down.

I love fall. By this time, I'm getting tired of summer meals and ready to move on to heartier cooking. It will have to wait, tho. It was in the 90's yesterday with more predicted today! I also love the fall colors. We get a pretty spectacular show in some areas. I do not like winter. I'll qualify that by saying I do like it if I didn't have to go out and drive in it. I love the beauty of new fallen snow, but it's usually on a day I have to make the trek into town.

I love Fall! - nights are cool, days can still be warmish- and on Long Island - out this way- the crowds are gone.

I am always hot so love it when it is cooler!

As usual, it turned cooler here right after Labor Day. Today was only 67 or so.

But as night follows day and winter follows Fall - I KNOW it will turn hot again around the end of next week. It never fails - always gets hot around the Jewish Holidays

We always have this last gasp of summer. Happens every year. I see it's all over the PNW, unusually high temperatures.

I used to love the smell of Fall, but those are long ago memories since there is no burning of leaves anymore.
