--->What needs to also happen is prosecutors should actively prosecute all cases of child abuse and send these sickos to prison for a long, long time where they belong. <---
Yes, I concur completely, but don't see it happening any time soon, unless there is a complete over haul of our justice system in addition to the Church's wiliness to prosecute rather than to coddle the guilty men of the clothe who rather fondle children than to preach the gospel. The Church needs to reconsider changing some of the archaic church laws, such as those that state that a priest can not be married and serve as a spiritual leader concurrently.
--->And I have a question - why does it always seem to be Catholic Priests molesting children, most often homosexually? You don't read about this happening with Jewish Rabbis or Protestant Ministers. <---
Good question! It might have a lot to do with the fact that Rabbis, Protestant Ministers, Emans, and other spiritual leaders are allowed to marry and raise a family while serving their church.
Recently, a Protestant Minister came under fire for alleged (physical) child-abuse of the children within his congregation. These allegations were in conjunction with a murder investigation of one of his former members! Several members who left the church, spoke of horrific abuse within the walls of the church. Four adult congregation members, not related to the child would take turns beating the child in name of deliverance according to what their minister had preached about the Biblical line: Spare the rod, spoil the child.
During a TV interview, this Minister spoke how he beat his own grandson's buttocks for crying the night before, during a Sunday sermon!
