Governor Sarah Palin billed the state of Alaska for travel allowances during times that she was actually at home.   Not just a few nights,  but a total of 312 nights that she was at home,  she billed the state  of Alaska for travel reimbursements to collect for meals  and  incidental expenses.     She also billed taxpayers for travel expeses that involved taking her children and her husband billed the stated for travel on  " official businesss "  with the governor.

Do you believe Palin committed fraud?

Former Gov. Tony Knowles said travel expenses were at the center of "quite the little scandal" in 1988, when the head of Alaska's Commerce Department was criticized for collecting a $50 per diem while staying at his home.

"I gave a direction to all my commissioners if they were ever in their house … they were not to get a per diem because, clearly, it is and it looks like a scam -- you pay yourself to live at home," he told the Post.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/08/AR2008090803088.html?hpid=topnews

ANCHORAGE, Sept. 8 -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has billed taxpayers for 312 nights spent in her own home during her first 19 months in office, charging a "per diem" allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business.

She wrote some form of "Lodging -- own residence" or "Lodging -- Wasilla residence" more than 30 times at the same time she took a per diem, according to the reports. In two dozen undated amendments to the reports, the governor deleted the reference to staying in her home but still charged the per diem.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/08/AR2008090803088.html?hpid=topnews

While travel expenses for Palin and her family are considered reasonable,  is it reasonable that she should be paid for staying in her own home?   Does the deletion of references to the fact that she was in her own home indicated that she was engaged in frauding the state of Alaska for travel expenses?

Does anyone still find it credible that Palin was vetted?

Did Palin commit fraud in billing for travel when she was in her own home 312 nights?

I'm curious about that army of lawyers McCain sent up to Alaska to try to kill the troopergate scandal. Could it be that that isn't their only task? Seems like there's wide open pipeline of scandal pouring out into the open...

Can't read either of those links. As soon as they open a Ralph Lauren advertisement comes up that blocks the entire left of the page, and it can not be removed.

very odd.

The links worked for me.    Im wondering if its because I was signed in at the Washington Post web site and you are not?   If so  im not sure how to link to the story unless copy and paste works.

You can sign on with Wash Post for free but not everyone is going to want to do that.

Monty, the links worked fine, and they both seemed to go to the same place, but as soon as they opened, they were covered by that advertisement, and there was no way to get rid of it.

Then why do they reference Mr. Biden as the poorest man in Congress?

He takes the metroliner into DC every day, sparing the expense to the taxpayers of maintaining two residences.

All this picky silly stuff is so damn stupid, trying in vain to cast some kinds of doubt on this VP pick

Picky silly stuff ?   lol

The great neocon, religious right extremist, anti abortionist, anti gay,  for the bridge - against the bridge,  biggest budget in the history of the state spender,  that scared Russia away from invading because she shoot moose and has all this  "experience" because of the national guard even though she never issued a single order to the NG since taking office.

Thats picky?   Thats silly?

Shes your champion for the new president to replace McCain when he cannot finish his term in office?

I hope our nations voters have not completely lost their minds.

Shes incompetent and unfit for the position.  She should never have been given the nomination.  And if shes elected this nation is in very serious trouble.

"and there are flights leaving everyday to destinations all over the globe for those who have an abiding destain for our American Process! American ain't it just great?"

As far as those who have 'distain' for the American process, that's definitely applicable to the last Administration, and possibly to the Republican nominees for the current one.

And telling people to get out is hardly hospitable, especially since we are all *EQUAL*.

Hey Wyle  you hit the nail on the head,  any bye the way Monty pretends to be a republican,  but finding a post where he actually supports the republican party is hard to do.  He has a different idea of what the rep party is,  and used it to condemn it at ever turn, therefore promoting the dem part at ever turn, can you say wolf in sheep clothing.

No, iii, he's a conservative, which most Republicans of the current mold are not.

They simply see the impact of DC decisions only  upon their own lives and forget about the rest of America and Americans.

He is compared to the rest of the Senatorial group.

And he doesn't put foot in mouth as much as the current Head of the Administration.

Biden is a nice guy, and he does take the train everyday. But Biden has never made that big a splash because he puts his foot in his mouth a lot! He has been a loose cannon for the Democrats in the past. I was surprised that Obama picked him. I was waiting for Obama to call me and ask my opinion and I would have told him go for Hillary even though your get Billary too......but he never called! Have a nice day.  ..............................................................................................                                                  Biden has been going around telling every one that Bush is now following Obamas plan for the war in Iraq and things have improved because there doing what he's been telling them to do.I would be A little more worried about him being in the white house then McCain Especially if he belives what he saying.Brain aneurysms are no joke and can cause a lot of damage to ones brain.

DON'T TELL THAT TO THE EXCITED REPUBS!!

Monty:
Those travel expenses won't mean a THING with the Repubs!
They will find excuses for her..or else they will deny it ever happened !

They are SO overly exited about her joining the McCain ticket, that regardless of anything they might find out about her,it wouldn't mean a thing, and in fact they object to anyone saying ANYTHING about their new found possible key to the White house that they were not too sure of before she entered the picture!

Absurbly so! I call it FEAR.....you know she is gonna TROMP YOU!

lol.  This is not about me.  It is about our nation.  You are not really suggesting Palin intends to tromp on everyone that disagrees with her politics are you?   Wasnt that the tactic that Hitler used?  or Stalin?   or Saddam Hussein?  Are you suggesting that Palin as President intends to "tromp" on this nation?    Is that something that should compel one to vote for her?

Not in the past 8 years they haven't and thanks to Karl Rove who figured out that your big strong, so powerful liberal states like New York and California who wield such a formidable force in electoral votes means squat, now middle America is forming the backbone of this nation to diminish the ultra liberal to second place!  Gawd I love this country

Sorry that you do not understand the country that you claim to love.   Our constitutional demoncratic republic has nothing in common with the dictatorship style of the past 8 years.  Thanks to the past 8 years of the Bush administration, even nations that have been long time allies with the US now hold us in the lowest regard that they have had in the past 60 years.  All across europe the newspapers routinely reference him in comparison to Hitler.   There are repercussions to the US for such behaviors and those repercussions will continue to detrimentally affect this nation for a decade or two to come.

Heeeeeeree it comes again. Another eight years of Republican rule! I love this country, I really do! Have a nice day.

For starters they are Republican in name only.  The neoconservatives usurped power in the Republican party. Neoconservative philosophy is NOT conservative republican philosophy and anyone bother to read the philosophy of the neoconservatives and their history would know that.

Even IF McCain / Palin should win the white house,  every indication is that the Democrats will continue to sweep through congress in larger numbers and have a veto proof majority that will severely alter McCains administration abilities.
