TELL US: WHAT'S ON *YOUR* FALL TV VIEWING SCHEDULE?

It's the new fall season that could potentially change the television landscape forever.

With the debut of the new 'Jay Leno Show,' NBC is launching a new talk-comedy hour in a time slot normally reserved for five episodic/scripted dramas.  If the show succeeds, more such efforts could follow from other networks, thereby reducing the need for scripted programming.

However, that's not the only program making waves this fall.

Here are 9 other new series that could keep tongues wagging all season long:

'Cleveland Show': He's been part of the 'Family Guy' fold, and now Cleveland Brown starts a new life in Virginia.  However, will FOX viewers make the trip along with him?

'Community': An NBC sitcom featuring Chevy Chase that is said to be the funniest pilot of the fall season.  Will it send viewers on a small-screen 'vacation' towards laughter or prompt them to seek out 'Fletch' to find the laughs?

'Cougar Town': Courteney Cox returns to network television as a recently-divorced 40-year-old single mom who struggles with the allures of younger men.  Will ABC viewers want to be 'friends' with Cox's new character, or treat her like 'dirt'?

'FlashForward': This paranormal thriller focuses on the after-effects of a 2-minute, 17-second blackout experienced by the entire world, as people try to recall what took place and uncover details about their future.  Will viewers get as excited about this as they did for a similar ABC program, 'Lost,' or will viewers simply forget to watch?

'Glee': Some might call this FOX musical comedy about a high school glee club 'High School Musical meets 'American Idol.'  The first episode, which aired after an episode of 'Idol,' generated a strong response back in the spring, but will viewers find themselves in tune with the show's quirky style?

'The Good Wife': Julianna Margulies is receiving high praise for her role as a wife and mother who must re-ignite her legal career after her politician husband (played by Chris Noth) lands in jail.  Will this show be found guilty of success or failure in viewers' eyes?

'Melrose Place':
First, '90210' received its remake.  Now, its spicy '90s counterpart gets its own re-do on CW.  Can it live up to its Locklear-led predecessor, or will viewers be seeking out a different address for their TV remote during the time slot?

'NCIS: Los Angeles':
A spinoff of the hit CBS 'NCIS' franchise that will star Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J tackling crime on the opposite coast.  Will mama (and others) say that it knocks viewers out?

'Trauma': One of a number of medical series set to air this fall, this drama focuses on first-responder paramedics in San Francisco.  Will viewers head to NBC to view it 'stat,' or will the series quickly flatline?

I'll probably give NCIS-LA a try as I like the parent show.  I'll also give The Good Wife a look.  Other than that, it's pretty iffy.

I love NCIS and hope NCIS LA will be good too.  I am not sure if the cast can even come close to the original, but I will watch and find out!

I think the two-part spinoff episodes on NCIS this past season were an indicator that the new LA-based series might work.  I was interested in the characters presented by the end of that story.  The techie side of their base lends the LA office a different character than the one in Washington.  It's darker, too.  And, I think we'll see a series more from the point of view of the agents rather than their unit boss (imagine Washington without Gibbs).  What remains to be seen is whether or not the characters all come together in a good ensemble, which I feel is a strong point for the original series.

Hi, Libby!

I'm really looking forward to "CSI: Los Angeles". Whenever the CSI franchise rolls out a new series, I never think it will be as good as the last one but, so far, I've been wrong, wrong and wrong <G>! In fact, I've become so bored with the original that I've pretty well given up on it. It's just not the same without Grissom.

Susan -

I still like the original CSI and CSI: NY.  I don't watch the Miami version as much.

As for NCIS, they're showing both parts of the spinoff to NCIS-LA tonight, strangely split by an episode of Big Brother.  Hope the schedule is the same where you are and you've taken note of this.  <G>

Hi, Libby!

I did see that the spinoff episodes of NCIS-LA were airing on Tuesday night, but I had already seen them the first time around so didn't watch again. I can't wait for the season premiere of NCIS to see what happens to Ziva.

There are a few new series that I'm looking forward to watching ("The Good Wife", for one), but I still haven't forgiven CBS for cancelling "Without A Trace", "Shark", "Judging Amy" and "Close To Home" <veg>.

Yes, Susan, premieres of all of the returning series (and the new ones) are pretty close at hand now.  I, too, look forward to seeing what happens with Ziva.  The promo we've gotten here recently shows Tony in a similar situation to the one we last saw Ziva, so I feel comfortable guessing that she will be rescued and returned to her post in Washington at some point early in the fall.

I figured out what bothers me about the NCIS LA..  I just don't think their version of Gibbs is right.  I don't care for her at all.  Maybe it will be different once the show really starts...   We shall see....

Laura -

I can understand your point.  Part of that two-part episode was the conflict between her and Gibbs.  She did, however, seem competent and I, too, am interested in how her character plays out during the series.  It's also interesting that she does not get star billing on this.  All I've heard about are the two male leads.  Time will tell all about the "chemistry" of the new show.  I think that's a very important part of the original, so I hope the spinoff has a strong one as well (I don't mean "same" here - I don't think that would work).

I am excited to see how it plays out.  It is weird that she isn't billed as the star.  NCIS was built around Mark Harmon...he is top... Kinda weird the Gibb's like character isn't the same.  We shall see!

It may be a conscious attempt at a different "feel" for the new series, concentrating on the field agents (the woman in charge didn't seem to get out much).   We *shall* see, won't we? <S>

Hi, Libby!

There is no doubt in my mind that Ziva is NOT a traitor and will return to Washington once she's rescued. I'll admit that I originally suspected her motives when she first joined the team (plus I was REALLY ticked that Kate was killed off and was prepared not to like whomever replaced her), but she fits in really well and I love the banter between her, Tony and McGee.

It is especially funny when one of them "corrects" her and it turns out what she was saying was what she really meant.

Agreed, Sky!  One of my very favorite things about NCIS is the ensemble of wonderful characters and the chemistry between them.
