Hi:

Suddenly in my CS 2000 v6(old and newly-installed versions), I find that on entering, and negotiating through, CS Forums, I get that famous "IE Script Error" window each time I change windows. I have done that famous checking that "Disable script debugging" option in MSIE8 to no avail. I have cleaned out Spyware/malware too.

What is open for me to cure this?

Hi Herb,

You have the Internet Explorer 8 installed.  Why don't you use this to access CompuServe?  I have stopped using the CompuServe 2000 programs many many months ago.  I connect through use of the Internet Explorer.

In IE8 you should try to use Compatibility mode for all web sites, this may help.  Click on Tools in the Menu bar, click on Compatibility View Settings.  Mark [/] Display all web sites in Compatibility View.
This may help when using the old CompuServe program and the Internet Explorer 8.

PS..You should use the Custom button when you update Windows.  There are many updates that are not displayed in the Express button.  And these updates and or Support programs, that in most cases have since been updated, provide corrections and the support needed.

"try to use 'Compatibility mode for all web sites'"

Just did that. Will get back to you if that does NOT help.

"I have stopped using the CompuServe 2000 programs many many months ago. I connect through use of the Internet Explorer"

Pleae tell me how to do just that from IE 8?? Will I be able to use all of what CS offers or just email?

Many thanks,

Herb

Dear Scott:

I just did that change you recommended to "Display all web sites in Compatibility View", but to no avail!!! The Script Error window just keeps popping up.

Hi Herb,

When you are logged into CompuServe and to a forum you open to mostly do this.

You are logged into the forum, this has to be done.  Click on My Stuff, it will be available as you are logged in.  Now save this page (My Stuff) to Favorites.  Just click on the Favorites name in the Menu bar and click on, Add to Favorites.
Now or later after you log off CompuServe you can open Favorites, scroll down to the bottom of the list, Right click on the name that was saved, MS Internet Explorer-myforums or maybe it says mystuff.
Click on Send to > Desktop (create shortcut).  A shortcut was added to the Desktop.  Move it to where you want it to be on the Desktop.   This is what you click on to open CompuServe and the My Stuff open at the forum you want to open to.  But first the log-in screen appears.  Just type the first letter of number of your screen name and the name in full will appear in a box below.  Click on this name.  Your password will automatically be added.  Then click on OK and you will log onto CompuServe and the forum you have chosen to log into at My Stuff.

Mail you can get to when you log off of the forum and go to the CompuServe display, before closing CompuServe.  Of you can after you are at your opened Mail account, do the same as above and save it to Favorites, then Send to the Desktop.  The mail is at http://webmail.aol.com/

Hope this helps, let me know.

Hi Herb,

Sometimes things don't always appear correctly.  You can open Favorites from the Start button,Favorites, from within the Internet Explorer when it is opened.  Maybe you know of another location to open the Internet Explorer Favorites.

Right click on that saved Favorite for My Stuff, click on Send to >, then click on the name, Desktop (create shortcut).

There are times I want to do many things and the right popup does not appear the first time, and sometimes it takes more than two or three times.
