Gary.....if you don't believe John McCain told the unvarnished truth, just say it because this short conversation is about John McCain -- nothing more.
McCain was honest in his assessment of Sarah Palin. He hit it on the nail. She did her share of engergizing...they were ahead in the polls and she is undeniably a formidabe force in the Republican party. These are undeniable facts. What part of his statement do you find false? Where did he lie?
