[Msg # 156520.1 ]
Friends:
What is the preferred way to continue using an anti-virus program when you get a new machine? IOW, I just received a computer I had built for me. It has WIn-7 and Office and nothing much else. The XP machine it is replacing has a version of Trend Micro PCillin anti-virus software with quite a few months remaining. It has been extended one year already on-line, so the original installation disc is pretty old and probably incompatible with Win 7 (64bit). In fact, I got an error msg. when I tried to use it on the new computer.
So, how do I go about transferring my subscription and software to the new Win 7 machine?
Thanks, Richard

Call/eMail the AV vendor and ask them what is the route to go. However, if the version is not compatible with Win7, you may wind up having to BUY whatever version IS compatible - hopefully they will then extended the subscription with the compatible version
This is NOT an issue with Norton, they allow FREE upgrades to the current version if your installed version is still under subscription. Again, you may have to contact Norton/Symantec to transfer the license to the new machine
