Will Humans Destroy the Sea Turtle?

All sea turtles are now either threatened or endangered, hunted to the brink of extinction by human beings over the course of little more than a century.  That's despite having lived on planet Earth for more than a hundred million years!

Do you think Man the Predator will destroy this ancient species, too?  What steps do you believe can or should be taken to prevent the extinction of the sea turtle?

Did you know that these magnificent undersea swimmers are actually air-breathers?

Able to hold their breath for long periods of time, they ascend to the surface periodically and exhale Carbon dioxide and inhale great quantities of air before returning to their undersea home.

But they're air-breathers -- just like you and me!

Why would anyone want to permit such a beautiful creature as this from surviving to be witnessed by future generations?

These sea turtles are seen in a rare terrestrial moment on a beach in Hawaii.  Do you know the only occasions on which sea turtles climb up to the land?

Sea turtles appear very different when they're young, as evidenced by this photograph courtesy of Wikipedia:

On site, phuketindex.com, headlines this week that:

Sea turtles may be extinct

Only about 10 nests of sea turtle are discovered in natural nesting sites each year. While human’s fishing gear hurt/kill them more....
