We are about to welcome two new Maine Coon kittens (13 weeks) into our home. This is the first time we have owned pedigree cats and would appreciate any advice on how we can make the settling in process as painless and stress free as possible for all concerned.

Having had 3 Maine Coons at one time or another.. I can say this.

1: As for their being pedigree cats. .. This does not make much (if any) difference.

Maine Coons tend to be affectionate, they often love to be cuddled and petted.. epically males.  If you are "Good with cats" in general, you should have not problems.

Oh, you know the old joke "Nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs"

An adult Maine Coon, can cover it's nose with it's tail.. Far as I know, it is the only bread where the adult cat can play "Chase my tail" and actually catch it.

Oh,  They may enjoy a good brushing from time to time (like 8am, 9am 10am, that's time to time) Or they may not.. Like all cats... personality can be different, between the two of them, as day is different from night.

The easiest welcome is one that allows them their own time to adjust.  They will be entering an entirely new world, one of new scents, sounds, and sights.  Often, they will go into hiding, and come out at night when they feel safe to explore.

For instance, if they run under furniture or the bed, you can sit down and talk to them.  By sitting down, you make yourself less large.  And talking lets them get used to your voice.  You can put your hand out and wiggle your fingers, but don't try and grab right away.

On the other hand, since they probably got good socialization, they probably will only need some time to adjust to the new surroundings.

It is often best to use the same food and litter they currently have.  If you change food, do it gradually over perhaps a week or so.  And if you change litter, and the new litter has quite a different texture, have both available until they chose.

Ask for the health records from the breeder.  Often it is useful to take them to your vet for a health assessment.  That way you know there are no surprises, and you also protect yourself.  And, with  new vet you set up a proper schedule going forward for their best health.

If you have not had kittens before, be prepared for quite a ride.  Kittens come turbocharged, and get into and onto everything.  So have your house child-proofed.

They look absolutely adorable.
