It is very sad to see the pictures of the injured and dead children coming out of Gaza. As sad as it has been over the years to see the destruction Hamas has caused in Israel with its rockets. Injured and dead is just as awful whether in Israel or Gaza.

When Palestinians elected Hamas and allowed them to install their weapons in their homes, schools, mosques and other places where civilians gather, when they gave shelter to militants from Hamas, the shooters of missiles, the suicide bombers, did they not think that someday Israel would fire back at them? And, sadly, that their children would be hurt or killed? Surely, they must have...

If another country was lobbing missiles into the United States, how long do you think it would take the U.S. to respond in kind? (Not long. Certainly not eight years.) How many Americans would be demanding of its leaders to hit back hard and put an end to the bad guys? (Likely the majority of the country.)

War is ugly. War has civilian casualties, like it or not. Sometimes you need to join a war to make peace. Hamas has been waging war on Israel for a long time. The only difference now is Israel has joined the fray, and suddenly the world is outraged over the deaths of the children of Gaza. Where was all this outrage over the eight years Hamas has been shooting missles into Israel, and sending suicide bombers into Israel? Dead children are dead children, whether from Gaza or Israel. And it is tragic.

Good post. I read something the other day to the effect that if Palestine laid down it's arms, there would be peace. If Israel did the same, she would be annihilated.

I regret the need for the war. I regret the dead among
my relatives. Israel must finish Hamas this time if they don't
want to fight them again in the future.

Another view of the situation on Gaza can be read HERE.

"But many were not terrorists because Hamas has perfected a kind of camera-ready human sacrifice — placing its launchers in playgrounds, hospitals, and neighborhoods crowded with mothers and children. "

"Was Israel Right to Invade Gaza?"

No,because Israel has Gaza so boxed-in that the people cannot breathe. She has cut off their routes for food, supplies, and other necessities. They were getting along just fine until 1967 when Israel performed a sneak attack on the Egyptian forces, capturing almost all of the Egyptian Air Force on the ground -- which proves the Egyptians were not the aggressors, but the Israeli forces were! (See: The Body of Secrets" by James Bamford, who sued the U.S. government under the Freedom of Information Act to get much of his information.)

On June 8th, 1967, a squadron of Israeli unmarked planes, without warning, attacked our ship, USS Liberty, off the coast of Egypt, where they killed 34 of our sailors, and wounded another 179, in order to sink the ship and silence the crew. Why? Because the Israeli forces knew that our sailors knew, that Israel started that war, not the Arabs. (See: www.ussliberty.com, a site set up by our sailors, who were there! Also see the book: "Assault on the Liberty" by James M. Ennes, Jr.,an officer of the Liberty).

At first Israel denied it, but when she found out we were on to her, she admitted it, but claimed that she mistook it for an Egyptian Horse ship, A ship that is used to carry horses to ground war for the soldiers to use.
It was obvious to all, however, that the ship had no horses and could not, because their was no room on Liberty for anything. It was an electronic spy ship, and was loaded with radar dishes for ascertaining height and range of objects, and other equipment, including four machine guns. There was no room for any horses!

Our sailors were sunbathing on the deck of the ship at the start of the Israeli attack. Not the picture one would expect for a ship supposedly carrying soldiers and horses to war! And our sailors would not look very Egyptian! We have every color of the rainbow in our navy -- red heads, blonds, browns, blacks, bald, etc. Furthermore, the name of our ship was printed in the side in English, in the normal manner, and not in Arabic, as would be expected of Egyptian ships.

Prior to the attack, a propeller driven plane, similar to our Flying Boxcar, passed over the Liberty about thirteen times in a six-hour period. It was set up as photo-reconnaissance plane, taking pictures, which were transmitted to their intelligence organization. There is no way they could have mistaken us for Egyptians.

So, why the attack? To silence the crew! To shut them up. To sink the ship, and cover up the fact that Israel started the war and continued to fight, even after the truce was called, so that she could get the land she wanted for herself. She wanted "Lebensraum" (Living Room), just what Hitler wanted and why he attacked his neighbors in Europe.

(See the books and site above for more details.)

I don't think it would take long... though foreign troops firing .50 caliber machine guns at our Border Patrol agents doesn't seem to be news anymore...

For some reason previous administrations have begged, pleaded, and bribed Israel to moderate their response to civilians being targeted by indiscriminate rocket and bomb attacks...  Israel has responded by targeting them with precision munitions instead of a full scale military response...

I doubt the current administration has the gravitas to influence them in much of anything these days...
