Orlando.   Ft. Hood.  Ohio.   In one week the country has become transfixed by the violence that's come to military bases,  suburbs and office parks and one solution that's being adopted by state after state is concealed weapons laws.

Some believe it's the only solution to prevent violent crime and now if  the people of Florida have a concealed carry license they can keep their firearms in the car in company parking lots during the work day.   Are guns-in-the-parking-lot laws one solution to keep the bad guys at bay? .Click here to read more from the Orlando Sentinel.

You can take guns to work in Florida but not into the office.

Would concealed weapons make you feel safer and protected as you go about your daily life or should there be gun-free zones?

Not quite true.    The gun zealots who're scared of their own shadows need to remember the law doesn't allow concealed guns everywhere in Florida.  As the link says,   the law doesn't apply to schools,  prisons, nuclear power plants, defense plants or some other businesses.

Is this good for the tourist industry?   It's a sure-fire loser.

What kind of people carry concealed weapons?  Here's a true story:   one young man pulls into a convenience store/gas station and a second driver loses his place in a line.    The first man fills his tank,  goes into the store to pay for his gas and he's followed by the second driver who pulls out his concealed weapon,  holds it against the first man's head, and starts yelling "What are you going to do now,  f......er!!!!"

The CCW holder then runs from the store.  The store clerk calls the police about the assault he witnessed.   The man who had a legal right to carry a concealed weapon returns to the gas station while the police are en route to the scene of the crime.  He then runs a second time.

His excuse to police?  I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

Any idea on how many people have been murdered and injured by guns in the workplace or businesses?

Is it any wonder why people are against concealed weapons??????

Florida,

I do have a question for you. I noted on the news yesterday that there are record sales of guns and ammo is hard to get in some places. What do you think is going to happen with all these guns?

"What kind of people carry concealed weapons?"

By proven fact, the most law abiding people in the US.

"Is it any wonder why people are against concealed weapons??????"

I have yet to meet anyone one that was not against guns altogether that was against concealed weapons. I would guess it is what kind of person you are, how you think, and where you live that make people for guns or against guns.

Then why the compelling "need" to carry guns into business parking lots?  What's the benefit and how does it improve lives?

<<I have yet to meet anyone one that was not against guns altogether that was against concealed weapons. I would guess it is what kind of person you are, how you think, and where you live that make people for guns or against guns. >>

I provided one true example of behavior that makes people ask why do they need to even consider someone in a business parking lot,  in a fit of temper,  could assault them with concealed firearms.   And that's without the mention of people "going postal" over lay-offs,  downsizing, and animosity toward management.

I know what makes people against guns. On a given night in cities several people are killed with guns. Yesterday in my city, a 4 year old was hit by a stray bullet and died. People have died in their homes when bullets were fired through their windows.

Don’t tell me that people kill people, there are too many guns in too many hands, and people end up dead.

Isn’t the purpose of everyone being armed to keep people safe? I can’t think of any higher percentage of people armed than at Fort Hood. Someone used those guns and killed and injured dozens. This is why I am against guns!!! Guns help kill many people at one time.

"Then why the compelling "need" to carry guns into business parking lots?"

Why the compelling need that the government makes it a law that Buses carry fire extinguishers? I have never seen a Bus catch fire, have you? Do you believe that the government is fearful of Buses catching fire, or is it that the government believes it is better to have a fire extinguisher in case of this happening? I believe it is a common sense approach in case something may happen a person would be prepared.

"I provided one true example of behavior that makes people ask why do they need to even consider someone in a business parking lot,  in a fit of temper,  could assault them with concealed firearms."

I am sure if you looked you could find many true example of behavior by law enforcement as bad or worse than the one you provided. So should we disarm all law enforcement because of what a few do?

Because people want one. Why bother to get a car, people don't need one? People did without cars for thousands of years.

Strange that you know that bad guys kill people with guns, but yet you are against the good guys having a gun to protect themselves with.

"Don’t tell me that people kill people, there are too many guns in too many hands, and people end up dead."

I shouldn't have to tell you that, you should already know that. A gun is like any other inanimate object, it can't do nothing unless a living entity manipulates it. A gun will lay on a table until it rusts away and never harm anyone unless a living entity moves it. Are you aware that around 20% of murders are commited with a knife? People kill people and if they don't have a gun they will use something else. Eigthty million law abiding gun owner didn't kill anyone last night.

The issue is concealed weapons and that people are very much at risk from these people.

"IIsn’t the purpose of everyone being armed to keep people safe?

I have never implied that everyone should be armed, it is my firm belief that a lot of people out there are no smart enough to own a gun.

"I can’t think of any higher percentage of people armed than at Fort Hood. Someone used those guns and killed and injured dozens."

There is no doubt that a gun is the most efficient way to kill when speaking of tools that can be carried on a person. That is why all military carry and use them and there are thousands killed and injured in wars with them, not dozens. That is why if I am attacked by a bad guy, and like you said several people are killed on any give night, I want the best most efficient weapon I can have to defend my self and loved ones.

"This is why I am against guns!!! Guns help kill many people at one time."

Strange you wouldn't be against the bad guys that does the killing, but would be against the tool they used.

People who carry legally is some of the most law abiding people in the US and people are not at risk of the most of these people. What you fail to realize is that the bad guys carry concealed too, and people are at risk from these people. You ask me why I was afraid, it seems you are the one that is terrorized by the thought of law abiding people who carry concealed for no reason, when it should be the bad guys you are afraid of.

<<People who carry legally is some of the most law abiding people in the US and people are not at risk of the most of these people. >>

There's no basis in fact to support the claim 'people who carry concealed weapons are some of the most law abiding people in the US.'

I told you what a man with a concealed weapon did at a gas station in a fit of temper so what makes you think that's isolated or an abberation?   While it's just a hypothetical,   what do you think this man would have done if he'd not had a gun on his person?    Do you think he would have rushed into the convenience store,  in front of a witness,  and used his bare hands to slam the first man's head against a counter to yell, "What are you going to do now,  f......r!"

<<What you fail to realize is that the bad guys carry concealed too, and people are at risk from these people.>>

People are at risk when they get up in the morning because life has no certainty..

<<You ask me why I was afraid, it seems you are the one that is terrorized by the thought of law abiding people who carry concealed for no reason, when it should be the bad guys you are afraid of. >>

Law abiding citizens don't need fire power perpetually on their person.

Sure there is, you seem to be computer literate, look it up!

"I told you what a man with a concealed weapon did at a gas station in a fit of temper so what makes you think that's isolated or an abberation?"

I will tell you what, you look up all of the the incidents that involve people with a concealed carry permit doing something bad, then you look up all the incidents that involve law enforcement doing something bad. If there are more bad incidents caused by people with concealed carry permits than there are law enforcement then I will stop carrying my gun. But if there are more bad things caused by law enforcement than by people that carry concealed legally, then you can never say another thing bad about people who carry concealed legally. Now how is that for a challenge?

"People are at risk when they get up in the morning because life has no certainty.."

That is right, and that is the reason I carry a concealed weapon. I would much rather depend on my own expertize with a gun than wait on a policeman who is minutes away when I only have seconds to live. Now I don't condemn you for wanting to wait on the policeman that is minutes away to save you when you only have seconds to live, so you should condemn me for making the choice to protect myself.

"Law abiding citizens don't need fire power perpetually on their person."

Try to convince the 1,500,000 people a year in the US that are victims of violent crime of that.

What most people don't know or understand is that though there are many guns at an military base very few have ammunition except on the gunner range.

We know a top official at Ft Hood personally.  There was only one shooter, a Muslim!  He yelled out "Allah!  Allah!" as he began shooting. The shooter was armed with two handguns with extended magazines and a total of 21 rounds in each pistol + magazine.  The shootings were premeditated = planned.  The shooter has a history of anti-American, pro-Muslim, beliefs.  Why he was allowed to stay in the U.S. Military is a question we all should be asking our "leaders".

It is instructive to note that Muslims have been left entirely off the "Terrorist Alerts" sent out to all police agencies by the Feds lately.  I wonder why, considering that Muslims have committed all but one of the major terrorist attacks on the USA in the last 20-some years!

If you don't hear anything about the shooter's  "MUSLIM MOTIVE" on TV you'll know THE POLITICAL FIX IS IN.   I predict the shooter will be pictured as a misguided "mental case" with no motive, instead of the Muslim Terrorist he really is.  Hopefully I'm wrong and the truth will come out.  But I doubt it.

Yeah, and yesterday the good guy had guns, and he really used it. Even if he had a knife, he couldn’t have killed and injured as many as he did before being stopped.
