Does anyone have any idea why my chi gets all in a ball and pees when I tell her to go pee or poop? Incidentally, she is not mine. I'm sitting her until the owner gets back from vacation. I find it very frustrating as I saw that she would pee at her house whenenver she got excited. I have two chis and they are fully trained. I don't remember ever having so much training them. They don't go outside. They have their pads and when they need to go, they either run to the pad or bark if the door is closed so we can open it. They are so good! Why does this other chi so difficult? If I tell her to go pee and point my finger to go to the pad, she just gets crunched up, her ears pulled backward, and pees on the floor. What is wrong with her? Any advice from anybody?

Do you know how her owners handled the peeing and pooping routine?  Since you have her only temporarily, I think the best thing is to just take her outside every 2 or 3 hours, then tell her what to do and reward her when she does - like "good dog!' and maybe a treat.  She may be a little frightened with the new environment and not know exactly what is expected of her.  When our dog was a puppy she would dribble a bit when she was really excited and jumping around, but outgrew that before she was 6 months old.

Good luck!

Carol

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll try that but I think it's going to cause her to be more nervous as she never goes outside to do her business.
