Hello all. I have a dachsund that is about 8 and a half years old. She seems to be in good health. Her name is Molly. Recently when she starts playing, or tries to jump up on the couch, she starts to what seems like she is choking. She only started doing this about a few months ago. Does any one have any ideas what this may be? Thank you for any ideas.

Because I am out of work and can not afford a vet's bill.

When my Chichuahua, Molly, does that I give her a few sips of water. That's what my brother's vet told him to do when his Shih-tzu started with that choking sound.  Has something to do with the esophagus, and a few sips of water will stop it.
