My daughter's friend gave her a 7 week-old beautiful beagle that has been my problem since week 9. She is a very energetic and mischievous dog that never, never gets tired. My daughter promised me that she woould give it exercise as I knew about the high energy these dogs possess. She has not kept her promise. I have three other dogs that I walk every night. These are trained dogs that walk side-by-side either briskly or slowly depending on how I walk. It is a real joy to walk them. I love it because I love to walk and feel the fresh air. I tried walking Baby with them and it turned out to be a real fiasco. She just wanted to take off runnning in whatever direction she wanted. It was just horrible. So then my dogs suffered too. Then I decided to walk my dogs first and then come back for her and take her alone. Well, she whimpered like crazy and I could hear her all the way to the corner. After walking my dogs, I took her. She gave me rug burn from the textured cloth leash! I was so tired; she nearly took my shoulder out of its socket. I tried running with her and she never tires. Yesterday, I ran 30 minutes non-stop with her and she still wanted to keep on. I know she is frustrated and that's why she's been doing all kinds of mischief in the back yard.(chewing on the doormat, tearing it apart, breaking the branches off of the trees, destroying my other dogs' toys, and other stuff. But the one thing that really upsets my husband is that she's been digging around the fence and making holes all over the place.) Does anyone have any suggestions? I wanted to find it an owner that had ample space for her to run around because that's what she needs. I feel sorry for her, because I love her. But because I love her, I feel I should find her a suitable owner. How do I do that without feeling guilty?

How old is your daughter?  She is walking all over you!  Depending on your daughter's age, she needs to assume some or all responsibility for this puppy or return it to her friend.

All the behaviors you describe are typical of beagle puppies.  In fact, many are typical of all puppies.
