MYM will not run directly under any version of Windows 7 64 bit; however, it will run on 64 bit versions in Windows XP Mode, which is a free download for purchasers of Windows 7 PRO or higher. Windows XP Mode is a fully licensed Windows XP SP3 virtual machine that runs on Windows Virtual PC 7. There are other virtual machine methods that will work also.
Method 1: Windows XP Mode (You must be running Windows 7 PRO or higher)
Step 1. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx Make sure your hardware supports virtual pc by using the tool in step 2 of the page. Follow the instructions on the page to download and install XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC 7.
Step 2. Start XP Mode. You should already have an internet connection from your Windows 7 install. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/ and download and install Security Essentials. This is Microsoft's free anti-virus and malware program.
Step 3. Open Windows Explorer, create a folder called MYM in C:\, and copy your MYM12 files into it. They can be on a CD or a USB drive; XP Mode will recognize both.
Step 4. Right click the mym.exe file, and select Properties. (Anytime you change an entry, if the Apply button is present and no longer grayed out, click on it.) Select the Program tab. Command line should read "C:\MYM\MYM.EXE" (without the quotes), and Working line should read C:\MYM. Run line should read Normal Window. Click the Advanced button. The Autoexec file name should be C:\Windows\System32\AUTOEXEC.NT, and the Config file name should be C:\Windows\System32\CONFIG.NT. Click OK. Select the Font tab, and check that Available types is set to Both font types, and Font size to Auto. Select the Memory tab, and check that Conventional memory entries are both Auto, Expanded and Extended memory are None, and MS-DOS protected mode memory is Auto. Select the Compatibility tab, and verify that nothing is checked. Select Misc tab, and check that everything is checked except Mouse. Select Screen tab, set Usage to Window, and verify the remaining entries are checked. Exit the Properties window.
Step 5. Right click on mym.exe file again, and select Send To. Select Desktop (create shortcut). A shortcut to MYM.EXE will appear on the desktop. Right click the shortcut, and select Properties.
