There will be many parties and celebrations tonight as Republicans seem to be taking back seats some very important seats. The celebrations in my opinion are the result of a revolt against some poor judgmental ideals and the celebrations should be tempered. I strongly believe that in no way did these voters believe that the Republicans are better than the Democrats, the voters simply and clearly stated that they would not accept games and failed policies from the previous administration and they won't accept a different set of games and ridiculous policies from this administration.

My advice to the Republican party, be humble and not boastful. Remember, YOU WORK FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DON'T WORK FOR YOU, remember it and remember it clearly or you may find your celebration very well short lived!

Amusing to say the least.  Governors are local.  Deeds in Virginia tried to run as a Republican, slamming most, if not all, of Obama's agenda.  As Harry Truman said, "“Given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time”.  Deeds sucked and deserved what he got.  Corzine was governor of a state in hard economic times.  He was also the former head of Goldman Sachs, which brings with it an immediate hex nowadays.  Poor Jersey now is stuck with a Republican and a Democratic majority in the Senate.  Stalemate for the next four years.  None of them affect Federal Law, which brings you to NY 23, where a Democrat now represents a region which has been Republican since the Civil War.  I'm not quite sure how governors equate to a referendum when they only handle local issues and why a Representative in the House handling Federal issues that affect all of us isn't important at all.  It's a Rightwing very sour lemonade.

The moderate Republican dropped out of the race before the election. ....It wasn't much of a contest.

As far as the governors races, the Republicans ran a positive campaign and won both elections.

Interesting analysis however I have to disagree on a couple of your points and here's why.

True, Governors are local representatives and have no direct control over the Federal government, however the fact that Obama campaigned in New Jeresy for Corzine I do personally believe was a message to Obama.

As for your stalemate comment that is a very good point that you bring up. There is a theory that a very much loved Bill Clinton together with a very popular Republican congress stalemated each other and the economy grew as the government was tied from interfering with business. Pro-business legislation was tied and anti-business tax legislation was also tied up in congress. This leads me to wonder if New Jersey's economy will now grow. We'll have to see if it works at the state level.

Well we in NJ won't have to worry too much, have you looked at Mr. Christie lately?

The strain of the campaign and his health probably will cause his resignation, and we will have our dear Mr. Dick Cody as Governor again.

LOL. Yeah, hes overweight. So what. That Corzine even brought that up says little for him and in the end didn't do him any good either. And Christie looked like he was holding up mighty well.

<<The strain of the campaign and his health probably will cause his resignation, and we will have our dear Mr. Dick Cody as Governor again.>>

Wishful thinking on your part I'm sure but who knows, Christie might end up slim and trim and New Jersey a better place for having him as Governor. Couldn't do much worse than Corzine.

<<Do you live in NJ, Briezy?>>

No, but I can read. And I know that taxes on homeowners are astronomical, unemployment is around 9.7, among other things and apparently many from your state think that just about anyone would be better than Corzine.

<<I do, and Christie scares the pants off me.>>

If I'm not mistaken, some time back you referred to Christie as a RINO. If that were the case then you should have no fears at all as he would probably continue the debacle that more than a few say Corzine created for the people of N.J.  OTOH, if he is not a RINO, he might just do some good for your state. So put your pants back on and hope for positive changes. You might just see some.

Lulu that's sour grapes. Mr Corzine made an issue of Mr Christie's weight which tells you about the lack of class Mr. Corzine has. It's one amongst a few reasons why Mr. Corzine lost.

Taxes are astronomical but they BECAME Astronomical during the Whitman Admin.  Likewise the high unemployment in NJ started during the Whitman Admin.

Many people in our state are fat and stupid and far too willing to listen to pundits.

Somehow thinking for yourself went out of fashion.

Corzine created no problems for NJ folk, he was *trying* to fix the excesses of the past few years, but was stymied at every turn by idiots masquerading as free press.  Folks like those two meat heads, Carton and Rossi on 101.5.

I had a friend running for another term as a local gvmt official.  The opposition claimed his previous term was 'contentious'.  I guess they wanted him to roll over and play dead.  Needless to say, he wasn't re elected with that kind of idiocy.

I only hope I'm around in 4 years to say "I told you so" to the idiots who voted for Christie clone.

Sorry Stick that doesn't fly.

In the era of Jenny Craig and gastric by pass, or even the stomach band, there's no reason for Christie to look like that.  Have you ever met the man?  I have.

If he doesn't care much about his own health, why would he care about the health of NJ?

<<Taxes are astronomical but they BECAME Astronomical during the Whitman Admin.  Likewise the high unemployment in NJ started during the Whitman Admin.>>

When Governor Whitman left office in 2001 unemployment rates were at a historically low level. The following is from the Labor Department, June,2009, showing the current (as of that date) the highest by year and the lowest by year.  Since June N.J. unemployment has gone up to 9.8.

New Jersey 9.2 1977-02 10.6 2000-06 3.5

<<Many people in our state are fat and stupid and far too willing to listen to pundits.>>

Shame you have such disdain for people who feel differently than you do.

<<Corzine created no problems for NJ folk, he was *trying* to fix the excesses of the past few years, but was stymied at every turn by idiots masquerading as free press.  Folks like those two meat heads, Carton and Rossi on 101.5.>>

LOL. What a copout. Just blame Corzines failures on two radio pundits.  Corzine only contributed to the "excesses" of previous years. Using the executive pen to shut down the government for six days in 2007, to gain a 1% increase in sales tax, I'm sure did him a lot of good. Lost quite a bit of revenue during those six days that might have benefited the state. Smart move.

<<I only hope I'm around in 4 years to say "I told you so" to the idiots who voted for Christie clone.>>

I have no doubt that you will be here 4 years from now and quite a few beyond that. However, I'm not nearly as sure that you will be able to say "I told you so".  As far as idiots, I am 100% positive that there are those in your state who would also say the same for those who supported Corzine.

Lulu I'm very suprised you would make a personal attack on the mans personal appearance. You don't have the faintest idea if the man watches what he eats or not, exercises or not and takes care of himself or not. Many outstanding people both young and old have weight issues and it's not always their fault. Disagree with his politics all day if you wish but I find your personal comments toward the newly elected governor to be despicable and insulting. If you have any sense of decency you would take them back.

*LOL* there is no reason for being 'heavy' any longer, we know why the US is heavy, we know how to fix it, and we have the means to do it.

Please, it's their lives, if they want to die young, let them, but don't take the country down with them.

Kind of like smoking, you know, choices that you make?

The left likes to describe themselves as compassionate, understanding and tolerant. Nothing in that post even remotely resembled any of those traits.
