Hungry for Holiday Spirit in Your Travel Plans?

U.S. Towns with Holiday Names Can Put a Dash of Celebration in Your Trip

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The holiday season is approaching faster than a transatlantic cruise ship, with Thanksgiving only three weeks away. Holiday travel planning and activity can be stressful, so CSA Travel Protection (CSA) offers a list of favorite towns with holiday-themed names to help travelers get in the spirit.

No matter what part of the country you call home, there's a town nearby with a name that sparks the holiday frame of mind:

  1. Holiday - A suburb of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Fla. metropolitan area.
  2. Joy - Double the joy, double the fun. Joy, Ark. is a township in White County; and Joy, Ill. is a village with a population of less than 400(1).
  3. Thanksgiving, Md. - A town just about five miles west of Easton.
  4. Turkey - Just like on the meat on Thanksgiving, there's an abundance of towns named Turkey. You'll find one in Ky., N.C., Ohio, Texas and W.Va.
  5. Pie, W.Va. - If you live in or near W.Va., you can enjoy as much Turkey and Pie as you can stand in one day.
  6. Pumpkin - You'll find Pumpkin, Ga. northeast of Atlanta, and Pumpkin, Texas is adjacent to the Sam Houston National Forest.
  7. Cranberry - It's anyone's guess if the residents prefer them dried, sauced or jelled, but you'll find towns named after these tart little berries in Md., N.C., Pa. and W.Va.
  8. Eggnog, Utah - It's most likely difficult to find a rum version of this popular drink here.
  9. Chestnut - Go a little nuts and take a drive to a town called Chestnut in Ala., Ill., Ky., La., Mont. or W.Va.
  10. Snowflake - No two towns named Snowflake, whether in Ariz., Va. or W.Va., are alike.

Planning is key to a successful trip, but unexpected weather and illness can disrupt even the most carefully organized excursion. Travelers can learn more about how travel insurance can protect their trip by contacting their favorite travel agent, or CSA at www.csatravelprotection.com and (800) 711-1197.

<< Holiday - A suburb of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Fla. metropolitan area.  >>

I don't they would consider themselves a suburb -- 25 miles as the crow flies and a different county ..... <s>

"They" may so label but I'm sure Holidayians would not agree any more than St Petersburg would consider itself anyone's suburb and certainly not in connection with Tampa.... so there ....

You know what they say ...

Lies, damned lies and statistics ....

I think they should have included North Pole, Alaska.  I actually know someone who lives there.

LOL!!  No, but she'll accept cards from friends who want her to mail them with a North Pole postmark.  They make a big deal of being Santa's hometown.

Yes, I have been in Pie Town, NM many times over the years. It is a small town on US 60 between Socorro, NM and Springerville, AZ. As far as what types of pies they sell I frankly can't remember which probable means that they are all conventional pies. For me it used to be more of a place to buy gasoline that to eat.
