We're all looking for the 'next big thing' in staying healthy.  One of the first ways is to watch what we eat.  Here are a few ways to accomplish that:

  • Eat more fruits and vegetables
  • Limit liquid calories
  • Superfood (not super size)
  • Fat is back
  • Take your vitamins

Click HERE for even more tips on eating healthy.

I have good intentions - I really do, but those temptations along the way will wreck a diet in no time at all.  I'm getting much better about not snacking, as well as eating more vegetables, but I know I can do more.

What steps have you taken to staying healthy?

Kay

I gave up sugary sodas along time ago.  I am now working on kicking the diet soda habit, and drinking more water.  I am also eating a lot more veggies than I use to.  If we have company, I've been balancing the dessert out, by making something that contains healthy fruit.

Sodas are quite the menace when we're trying to balance our diets - nothing but empty calories and extra stuff we don't need - even the 'diet' version.

Desserts with fresh fruit sounds so refreshing and delicious - and probably leaves you without that heavy feeling that you cheated on your diet.

You're right, I need to get stocked up on some fresh, and maybe some frozen or canned fruit too, for the things that go bad to fast.

If I feel like I want to nibble on something before dinner, I'll eat some (not all) but some veggies, thats going to be for dinner. Canned, not raw.  I dont like raw ones. I like salads once in a while along with cole slaw on different nights before dinner.

I don't know if you have an Aldi store in your area, but they have fresh frozen fruit that doesn't have any sugar.  I like mixing it with a litlte yogurt.

I'm with you, Christine - Raw veggies are not my thing.

They just opened one near us, about three months ago.  It is less than fifteen minutes away.  Wal-Mart is right down the road from them and Aldi has forced Wal-Mart to have to lower their prices. Milk for $1.99 a gallon, is great after having to pay almost $5!  I will have to look for that fruit!

Why not just use fresh fruits? They're so much more yummier!

Fresh fruits are not always available on the east coast, where Deb and I live.  The extent of fruit seems to be melons, apples and oranges.  Soon the fresh berries will be out of the produce section.

Aldi's frozen fruit IS fresh and there's no sugar or preservatives.

Exactly, everything has a limited season here.
