Mike,
I downloaded the ISO and burned a Live CD of Fedora 12 with Gnome. It installed smoothly and is working well. After the problem with Fedora 11, I thought Fedora had left my computer permanently.
Cheers, Ray

F12 looks like a good release. I will probably install it after the server traffic settles a bit and the first round of updates are out.  I may try an update.  F11 had a few rough edges but most have been fixed in updates.

There's an issue with preupgrade not correctly determining whether there's enough free space in the /boot partition for a successful upgrade.  A corrected version of preupgrade was pushed out this morning.  I upgraded two F11 systems to F12 via DVD successfully -- probably about 1 hour per system.

Thanks for the info.  That is why I like to let a new release settle a bit.

I used the on-line upgrade from 9 to 10 and that worked quite well although you always get a certain amount of bloat with an upgrade.  It is conservative about removing things.  I did a fresh install of 11 and I did not even restore my configurations as I usually do.  They were getting very old and I wanted to build new configuration files from the current software even though that was a considerable amount of work.  I gave up on Thunderbird because it does not seem to have any way to import its own mailboxes and address books. It seems to work fine with the old configuration files.

In the past, I normally installed every other release but since the upgrade seems to work well for one use, I will probably do that for the intermediate releases.  For 13, I will do a full install but restore the configurations from backup.

Mike

The only problems I'm having have to do with going to the latest version of PHP and some change in MySQL that's generating lots of warnings from Drupal's search module.

I don't have enough space in the boot partition to run the on-line upgrade.  I have not decided yet whether to download the DVD and run the upgrade or just wait for 13 and do a full installation at that point.  Installing every other release has generally been my practice.  They will continue to maintain and update 11 until 13 has been out for a month.
