REACT: 'DANCING WITH THE STARS' SEASON 9 FINALE

VOTERS SHOW PUPPY LOVE FOR DONNY AND KYM!

It's been a season filled with 'Dancing' fun, flamboyance -- and yes, a flu bug -- but in the end, it all comes down to this: The finale that will determine the winner of the 'Dancing With the Stars' Season 9 mirrorball.

After weeks of intense competition, there were three couples left vying for the title:

Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson:
The one-time teen heartthrob and a member of one of music's most famous families has been entertaining audiences with his fine footwork, but did Donny and professional partner Kym have the staying power to reign supreme on the dance floor?

Kelly Osbourne and Louis van Amstel: The feel-good story of the season finds Ozzy and Sharon's daughter smiling and crying (happy tears) following every performance, inspiring audiences with her dancing and personal growth throughout the competition ... but did Kelly and her professional partner, Louis, have the steps necessary to ride the crazy train to victory?

Mya and Dmitry Chaplin: The talented singer who, along with Christina, Pink and former 'Dancing' contestant L'il Kim asked music lovers to free their 'Lady Marmalade' for 'Moulin Rouge,' has been freeing her inner dancer throughout the competition, but did Mya and her professional dancer, former 'So You Think You Can Dance' contestant Dmitry, prove that they have what it takes to samba home as champions?

The 'Dancing' finals opened with individual routines that were prepared under the tutelage of a member of the panel of judges:

Kelly and Louis, with help from Carrie Ann Inaba, presented an Argentine Tango that prompted the judges to call Kelly a 'revelation,' having come to the competition with no experience, yet showing remarkable growth throughout the season.  Kelly earns a 26 from the judges.

Mya and Dmitry, with help from perhaps their harshest critic, Len Goodman, decide that they want to 'rock you' with a routine that earns Mya the title of 'Queen of the Paso Doble' and a perfect score from the panel.

Donny and Kym, with help from Bruno Tonioli, take a trip back to 'September' with a cha-cha-cha that earned Osmond a 'Ding Dong Donny' (?) comment from Len, as well as hearty praise from Bruno for his incomparable professionalism that he deemed a credit to the profession.  It also earned Donny a 27 from the judges.

Next came the introduction of the 'Mega-Mix Routine' to the series, which saw the three couples dancing in unison to the same routine, prepared by Season 2 and 3 'Dancing' promo Nick Kosovich, so they could be judged side-by-side.  Mya got Carrie's hips shaking, Donny danced like a professional and Carrie believed that a wardrobe-malfunction hindered Kelly proved that baby got back.  It was not an easy decision for the judges, but they gave Mya the nod with a perfect score, Donny secured second spot with a 28 and Kelly brought up the rear with a 26.

The final routines of the night would be the always-anticipated 'Freestyle' round, one which has helped to secure the mirrorball for numerous celebrities in the past, including Drew Lachey and Shawn Johnson.

Despite suffering a tumble during her routine, Kelly laughed it off and looked as beautiful as ever and proved that she 'will survive' and as the judges note, has been a survivor all season long, earning a 24 from the judges.

Mya was eager to perform a Vegas-style freestyle that pushed the envelope, but ultimately bowed to Dmitry's desire to add a little 'Hairspray' to the proceedings.  Although the judges were less than impressed by the routine, you can't stop the beat of scoring success that Mya has been enjoying as of late, as she lands a 27 for her troubles.

Finally, Donny proved that he was 'back in business' with a show-stopping Broadway number that brought the audience to its feet and the judges to raise their '10' paddles for a perfect 30 score.

This left the scoreboard with Mya on top at 87, Donny close behind with 85 and Kelly with a bit of a challenge to reach the top at 76.

However, their fate would be learned the following night during a star-studded finale that, among other things, featured a Michael Irvin-Jerry Rice showdown that left both with newly-coveted Mirrorball rings, the return of Cloris Leachman, Jerry Springer and Steve Wozniak to the dance floor, Jeffrey Ross and Adam Carolla sharing more of their trademark humor, Donny serenading Chelsea Hightower and Louie Vito with 'Puppy Love' and all of the contestants performing impressive -- and, in some cases, never-before-seen -- dances.

The final three contestants also performed one last dance.  Kelly, the contestant who most tugged at everyone's heartstrings throughout the season, proved once again that she had no 'trouble' gracing the dance floor during a Viennesse Waltz.  As an emotional Carrie Ann Inaba remarked, 'You've come a long way, baby.'   Mya earned the title, 'Mya the Magnificent,' as she returned with a lively jive, while Donny's Argentine Tango reaffirmed that he is 'artistry in motion.'

The judges must have progressively enjoyed what they were seeing from the contestants, as they gave Kelly a 26, Mya a 28 and Donny a perfect 30, putting him into a tie with Mya at the top of the leaderboard ... but the ultimate decision would rest with the fans: Who most captured the hearts of voters with their fancy footwork?

As the show drew to a close and the envelope was opened, we learned the truth: Donny and Kym would be crowned 'Dancing' Season 9 champions and reserve a place for the much-coveted mirrorball on their mantles!  Mya and Dmitry and Kelly and Louis finished second and third, respectively.

Do you agree with the voters' decision to give Donny and Kym the mirrorball, or was another couple 'robbed' of victory?  Why or why not?

Hi, Laura!

ICAM! I've always liked Kym (maybe Tony or Derek will luck out next time around because they are my two favorite male pros) and I'm glad she finally made it to the winner's circle. I was really surprised by the results because Mya was by far the most talented and probably deserved to win based on that alone, but I just didn't like her. Donny was modest, determined, took all of the judges' criticisms to heart and put everything he had into each performance. He may have been inferior to Mya technically, but he made up for it in personality and showmanship. Oh yes, did I mention that I was thrilled with the results as well as surprised <G>?

I didn't care for Mya either. I just hate that they always put people on the show with dance experience...  that makes the playing ground uneven from the start!  I wanted either Donny or Kelly to win!

Hi, Laura!

I not only wonder why they put celebrities on the show with dance experience, but I wonder why they put celebrities on the show who have two left feet and simply stand there like a coat rack while their partners do all the work <G>!

Now that Kym has a trophy under her belt, maybe we can get one for Tony or Derek next season.
