For my friends and family, I've suggested buying gifts from organizations whose purpose is to overcome ignorance and human misunderstandings, or from other organizations whose proceeds go to help people around the world. Here are some of the places I've mentioned:

The National Geographc
A Greater Gift
Marketplace of India
Habitat for Humanity
