With just a short time to go until the official start of the Christmas shopping season, Black Friday, I thought the following tips would be helpful for those of us who are brave enough to face the crowds:
- Do your homework to unearth the best deals
- Check to see if you’re really getting a bargain
- Check out the retailer’s Web site
- Weigh the risks and rewards of late-night and pre-dawn sales
- Don’t assume the best deals are on Black Friday
- Shop early in the day
- Get extra savings through instant charge cards
- Check return policies
- Be mindful of restocking fees
- Guard your privacy and security
For years' I avoided shopping on Black Friday, but in recent years' I have actually found it fun. You do have to expect crowds, and it always amazes me when people stand in line complaining about the crowds on Black Friday. If you don't like crowds, don't go, because you know you're going to be out in one!
